Interdisciplinary case discussions play a decisive role in the optimal care of patients across clinic/department boundaries.
These interdisciplinary committees – which meet at regular intervals – are usually made up of
specialists from different medical disciplines, i.e. pulmonology, radiodiagnostics, surgery, pathology,
oncology and radiotherapy. If necessary, other specialties are also consulted for advice. By sharing knowledge, experience and perspectives, a comprehensive and individual treatment strategy is
developed to meet the specific needs of each individual patient. It is the aim of these boards to
optimize diagnostics and therapy in order to ensure fast and effective treatment.
Such interdisciplinary collaboration significantly promotes the quality of medical care and also allows the latest scientific findings to be integrated into clinical practice.
