Thoracic surgery covers a broad spectrum of diseases that are treated: Oncologic thoracic surgery, functional thoracic surgery, end-stage lung disease with transplantation and lung replacement therapy. In this video, Clemens Aigner from the Department of Thoracic Surgery at MedUni Vienna and Vienna General Hospital talks about lung-preserving surgery for early-stage lung cancer, translational research in thoracic surgery, potential improvements through the identification of molecular subtypes of lung cancer and the importance of prevention and early detection.

In modern cancer therapy, various specialist disciplines work closely together to offer patients the best possible treatment. Radiation is an important component of many cancer therapies. The video of the Department of Radiation Oncology at MedUni Vienna and Vienna General Hospital – available in 6 languages (English, German, Romanian, Serbian, Turkish, Ukrainian) – provides helpful information on the most frequently asked questions about radiotherapy (e.g. how patients can prepare for radiotherapy; what radiation intensity affects them). The aim is to enable patients to deal with their own illness in a well-informed and competent manner.
